The Buffalo County Attorney is an elected position with a four-year term of office. Shawn R. Eatherton is the current County Attorney and he took office in 2003.
The Buffalo County Attorney also serves as the County Coroner.
This office is divided into three divisions: Criminal, Civil, and Juvenile.
The County Attorney appoints his own Deputies, which include Andy Hoffmeister, Melanie Young, Melissa Willis, Mandi Amy, Lydia K. Davis, Kate Collins, Nathan R. Arehart, Marti S. Sleister, Josiah E. Davis, Rebecca M. Riley, and Jose L. Rodriguez.
