The GIS Technician is responsible for maintaining and updating the County's Geographic Information System (GIS) database to ensure accurate and current spatial data for county departments and the public. This position performs routine GIS data maintenance, including updating parcel information, subdivision plats, address data, and other mapping layers. The GIS Technician works closely with the Assessor's Office, Planning and Zoning, Register of Deeds, Surveyor, and other county departments to ensure GIS data reflects recorded property and land use changes.
· Associate degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Surveying, Computer Science, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
· One to three years of GIS experience preferred, particularly involving parcel maintenance or cadastral mapping.
· Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro is preferred.
· Experience working with property records, surveying, planning, or local government is desirable.
· Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
· This position is a non-exempt position

Contract Position – Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office
The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is seeking proposals from an experienced LMHP or higher, or PLMHP with desired experience and supervision to serve as a contracted therapist at the Buffalo County Jail providing mental Health Services & identifying substance misuse. This contracted role will provide no more than 24 hours a week assisting with a team-based approach between Jail Medical, Jail Security, and Jail Admin. A second, and vital piece for the contract position is collaboration between law enforcement, CoResponder Unit, County Attorney’s Office and Region 3 representatives while working with individuals experiencing behavioral health crisis. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for October 1, 2026.

The Buffalo County Public Defender's Office is seeking qualified applicants for a position as Deputy Public Defender. The Buffalo County Public Defender's Office represents indigent defendants in misdemeanor, felony, child support enforcement/establishment, and mental health board. Must have strong client counseling and time-management skills, and be able to cultivate strong professional relationships with county officials and judiciary.
Salary Range is $80,000 to $104,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include sick time, vacation, county retirement and medical insurance.
