    Facilities General Maintenance Worker

    Buffalo County Facilities currently has a position open for a general maintenance worker. Experience in building maintenance and/or commercial construction is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.

    General Purpose
    Perform work involving general, electrical, plumbing and/or HVAC maintenance and repair of County buildings and grounds, which may also include, but is not limited to, the installation and maintenance of equipment and utilities, and some remodel/new construction.     Minimum Qualifications

    • High school education or equivalent is preferred. Some advanced education and/or skills training is strongly preferred.
    • Thorough knowledge of methods, materials and techniques utilized in general building maintenance and/or general commercial construction is required.
    • Ability to safely operate some machinery is preferred, such as mowers, skidsteer, forklift, etc.
    • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions, and ability to work efficiently and complete duties with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with supervisors, fellow employees and the general public while presenting a positive image for the County.
    • Applicants must be able to comply with all physical requirements as required by the position and must pass a background check.
    • Applicants must possess a valid Nebraska Driver's License and be eligible to be insured under the County's insurance policies.

    Wages

    • This position is a non-exempt position.
    • Starting wage will be $17.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending upon qualifications.
    • Comprehensive benefit package including retirement.

Buffalo County Attorney - Receptionist/Calendar Clerk

The Buffalo County Attorney’s Office is seeking a full-time calendar clerk and receptionist to serve attorneys practicing in civil, criminal, and administrative capacities.

Candidates must be available to work full time 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, in a professional office environment. Starting pay dependent on experience. The County offers a comprehensive benefit package including individual health insurance, generous retirement programs, and access to a wide variety of other benefits such as family health, vision, dental, and life insurance benefits. The County offers paid vacation, paid sick leave and paid holidays.

Strong candidates will also have experience in some of the following areas:

  • A demonstrated history of cooperative work with multiple agencies, departments or offices to manage complex projects.
  • Experience in calendaring, scheduling and coordination of meetings.
  • Desire to produce quality, accurate, work product.
  • Experience in accurate data entry and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with, or desire to learn, some of the following legal or law enforcement technologies/resources: Microsoft Office suite, case management software, JUSTICE, or other resources.

Though prior experience as a calendar clerk and/or receptionist is not required, candidates with said experience should provide details about their experience and specialized skills.

Candidates without prior experience as a receptionist or calendar clerk should highlight employment or educational experience that closely aligns with the desired skills, and should specifically address in their cover letter why they are seeking employment as such.  

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
