Appraisal Field Assistant
General Information
Perform administrative and professional work under the general direction of the County Assessor.: Determine quality & condition of Real Property. Measure, collect, and enter physical characteristics of new and old construction and buildings from building & sales permits. Draw building diagrams and verify legal descriptions of property. Aid in yearly sales analysis by neighborhood. Other duties related to the valuation of real property as directed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; a college degree is desirable
  • Excellent public relations and customer service skills
  • Must be able to read, understand and explain a Legal Description.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the job; e.g, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, spending long hours outside for extended periods of time in all weather
  • Must be computer literate and able to utilize digital cameras, copiers/scanners, and other equipment to enter data, record physical conditions, and create documents and records.
  • Basic knowledge of math and construction practices is desirable
  • Must have a valid Nebraska driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle under varying weather and road conditions
Skill in
  • Using computers; operating vehicles; using reasoning and decision-making approaches; understanding, judging, and tactfully interacting with property owners, county officials, and the general public.
Wages
  • This position is a non-exempt position  
  • Starting wage will be between $14.00 and $15.00 per hour depending on qualifications  
  • Comprehensive benefit package including retirement
